To coincide with Graffiti Weekend, Umpqua Community College will present an outdoor concert, “The Day the Music Died”. It will be held in the Swanson Amphitheater July 10th through 14th at 7:30 p.m.

Created by UCC Music Professor Dr. Jason Heald and produced and directed by Theatre Arts Assistant Professor Bart McHenry, this show celebrates the era and artists of the plane crash that killed early rock and roll musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and The Big Bopper, memorialized in Don McLean’s classic song, “American Pie”.

The outdoor show will include chair seating, bistro tables, and a picnic area. Food will be available for purchase as well as wine from the Southern Oregon Wine Institute, which will cost $5 per glass.

General admission is $15, cash at the door. Seniors get in for $10 and students of all ages are admitted for free.
