A transient was jailed on the charge of unlawful possession of a domestic animal on Saturday.

A Myrtle Creek Police report said the 45-year-old has been convicted of second-degree animal abuse and cannot possess a dog for five years. Just after 12:15 p.m. the man was seen walking down Third Avenue in Myrtle Creek with a dog. The man told an officer that it was his dog. He was detained on $1,250 bail and was released on Sunday.
