The libraries in south Douglas County have launched a collaborative food drive challenge in support of the South Douglas Food Bank.

The initiative aims to gather non-perishable food items to assist families in need within the community.

The food drive challenge will run through December 15th. It also introduces a friendly competition among the participating libraries to see which can collect the most food donations.

Canyonville Community Library Program Manager Linda Grace said, “We are thrilled to kick off this food drive challenge to support the South Douglas Food Bank”. Grace said, “Last year we collected close to 700 pounds food, and this year, we hope to collect 1,000 pounds. We urge everyone to join us in making a difference in our community”.

Participating libraries include Canyonville Community Library, Yoncalla Public Library and Riddle City Library. Donations can be dropped off at these participating libraries during their regular hours of operation or directly at the South Douglas Food Bank at 420 “E” Street in Riddle.
