Part of a home received extensive damage due to an early morning fire on Sunday.
A Douglas County Fire District No. 2 report said at 3:15 a.m. crews responded to the fire in the 800 block of Old Garden Valley Road. Firefighters arrived on scene to find the living room, the front deck, and attic all on fire. Two small grass fires were started when fireworks in the garage ignited and started the nearby grass on fire. Firefighters were quickly able to extinguish the grass fires and keep them from spreading to nearby properties.
All occupants were able to exit the home and were uninjured.
District No. 2 Fire Chief Rob Bullock said the home was a split-level house. While two bedrooms on the lower level were intact, there was damage to the upper main living areas, bedrooms and garage.
DCFD No. 2 was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and utility companies.
