Freeway paving begins next week between Glendale and Azalea.
Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation said motorists should expect lane closures and congestion for the next two months, starting this Sunday night.
Latham said northbound traffic will be limited to a single lane Sunday night through Friday morning for the next two weeks. Southbound traffic will be limited to a single lane between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. each Sunday night to Friday morning.
Paving will begin in the northbound direction and may require nighttime ramp closures at Azalea the week of May 7th through 12th. Motorists can also expect nighttime ramp closures at Barton Road and Quines Creek the week of May 14th through 19th.
Latham said during nighttime ramp closures, motorists are advised to use alternate routes. Watch for detour signs and roadside message boards. All paving work will take place at night, though some travel lanes may remain closed during daytimes hours.
