Two recreational vehicles and two passenger vehicles were a total loss and a nearby manufactured home sustained extensive structural and water damage in a fire Monday afternoon in the 1700 block of Southeast Mill Street in Roseburg.

A Roseburg Fire Department report said just before 4:00 p.m. personnel responded after a caller said a recreational vehicle was on fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy fire coming from the RV, which had extended into several exposures, including a nearby manufactured home. Crew also found active power lines down in the driveway, which delayed firefighting efforts until Pacific Power could arrive.

Fire Chief Tyler Christopherson said once power was disconnected from the property, firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, completed a primary and secondary search and completed overhaul. Christopherson said the owner of the primary RV was able to escape out of the vehicle prior to firefighters arriving on the scene. Two neighboring residents were also able to escape the secondary RV as well.

Three adults were displaced due to the fire. No one was injured. The American Red Cross has been in contact with the displaced residents.

Christopherson said a fire investigator determined that the cause of the fire was a resident performing mechanical work on the first RV. Twelve firefighters assisted with firefighting operations. Roseburg Police and utility companies also assisted at the scene.
