The fire danger level on lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry Southwest Oregon District has increased to High with the Industrial Fire Precaution Level moving to Level 2.

Public Information Officer Natalie Weber said this affects 1.8 million acres of state, private, county and Bureau of Land Management lands in Josephine and Jackson counties.

Weber said for the public, the use of power-driven equipment, grinding, cutting of metal, and other spark-emitting equipment, such as wood splitters and generators is now prohibited between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. This does not apply to the mowing of green lawns.

A number of other fire prevention regulations remain in effect for the public. Industrial operators have other restrictions as well.
