An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect from Thursday morning through Saturday evening for much of southwestern Oregon and northern California.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said dangerously hot conditions are expected for a few days with high temperatures between 100 and 110 degrees and over-night lows in the mid-60’s.

The Watch area includes locations in Oregon between the coast and the Cascade Mountains including the Illinois Valley, Roseburg, Grants Pass, Medford and Ashland. In northern California it applies to western Siskiyou County, including Weed, Yreka, McCloud and area valleys.

Forecasters said residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun. and check up on relatives and neighbors.
