A Douglas County man was one of the drivers in a Friday morning Lane County fatal wreck.
A report from Oregon State Police said at approximately 8:30 a.m. troopers responded to the crash on Highway 99E north of Junction City.
The preliminary investigation indicated that a pickup operated by 53-year old Kenneth Tish of Yoncalla, was traveling southbound when for unknown reasons it crossed the central lane line and struck a northbound vehicle operated by 40-year old Nicholas Tyree of Lebanon, head-on. Tish was transported via ambulance to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield. Tyree was pronounced deceased on scene by fire and medical personnel.
The roadway was closed for approximately 4.5 hours while the on-scene investigation was conducted. The cause of the crash is under investigation and will be referred to the Lane County District Attorney’s Office.
