The Douglas County Parks Department in conjunction with the Douglas County Parks Advisory Board has announced that a new Veterans Discount Program has been implemented for qualifying military veterans staying at Douglas County operated campgrounds.

A County release said that previously the program offered a discount for all qualified disabled U.S. military veterans. The new program provides a ten-percent discount for all qualifying U.S. military veterans at all county operated campgrounds. The program has been expanded to include yurt and cabin rentals. While the previous program was limited to ten night a year, the new program provides unlimited stays at the discounted rate.

The Parks Advisory Board approved the change to the program at its most recent meeting on June 15th. The Parks Department has now adopted the program. Veterans wanting to utilize the program must make their reservations in advance. To qualify, a veteran must show any of these pieces of identification: Department of Defense ID Card, Veteran Health ID Card, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department Special Access Pass, Veteran ID Card, or a Veterans designation on a state issued driver’s license or ID. Additional fees are not subject to a discount and remain the responsibility of the veteran making the reservation.
