Tuesday will see the beginning of a significant change to the weather in the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that Tuesday and Wednesday will see light showers with .10 inches of rain between the two days. Thursday will be a “shock to the system” according to forecasters with .25 inches of rain expected and an afternoon high temperature only in the upper 50’s. Snow levels in the mountains are expected to drop to 4,500 feet, bringing 1 to 3 inches of snow to Crater Lake National Park.

A brief break for sunshine is forecast for Friday and Saturday before the rainy weather resumes on Sunday. The seasonal normal high temperature in Roseburg for this part of October is 65 degrees. The mercury reached 80 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Monday. It was 82 degrees Sunday and 80 degrees on Saturday. Forecasters say its quite possible that a high of 80 degrees won’t be seen again until next year in the Umpqua Valley.
