Deputies with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a Eugene man after a pursuit and elude incident on Monday.

A DCSO report said at about 11:40 p.m. a deputy attempted to stop a U-Haul truck near the corner of Highway 38 and Curtin Road in north county. As the deputy exited the patrol vehicle, the truck accelerated away. The deputy followed the vehicle west on Highway 38 until Sand Creek, where it made a u turn in the road. The truck traveled all the way to the Goshen interchange where spike strips were successfully deployed.

The 31-year old was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle and for reckless driving. He was detained without bail. The U-Haul truck was later confirmed to be stolen out of Lane County
