One driver was hospitalized following a three-vehicle freeway wreck on Monday.
An Oregon State Police report said just before 1:40 p.m. the operator of a northbound sports car swerved to avoid traffic that was slowed due to hazardous conditions about a mile and a half north of the Curtin/Lorane exit on Interstate 5. The vehicle hit the rear of a commercial motor vehicle before switching lanes and striking an SUV.
The CMS sustained minor damage to the semi-trailer. The SUV had heavy damage to the right rear and was towed from the scene. The SUV’s driver, a California man, was transported to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield with non-life-threatening injuries. The first vehicle sustained heavy front and side damage with air bag deployment. It was also towed.
The driver who caused the accident was cited for careless driving.
