In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:
The works of Portland artist Jonathan Barcan will be displayed April 3rd through May 3rd in the Art Gallery at Umpqua Community College.
A release from UCC said Barcan is a mixed media artist and printmaker featured worldwide. A lecture by modern philosopher Alan Watts served as Barcan’s inspiration for the exhibit, titled “Billions and Billions”. Combining various printmaking techniques, Barcan overlays etchings of anatomical medical images, illustrations, and sentences. The final image is a singular “quilted quality” image expressing a sense of synergy.
The UCC Art Gallery is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It is located in the Whipple Fine Arts Building,
